ABOUT

Meet Jodie Baulkham

Author, Speaker, Coach

My world was shattered in 2007 at the age of 29 when my husband was killed in the line of duty.

I was left alone to raise our 8-month old daughter while navigating traumatic grief and the Canadian justice system. I began picking up the pieces of my broken life to find a sense of myself again.

Fast forward a few years and I married another police officer who lives with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depressive disorder as a result of his duties. That little baby has grown into a beautiful young woman and fiercely battles obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

Living with and supporting people with mental health challenges is my everyday.

I’m a compassionate and open-minded life enthusiast who happens to also be a licensed teacher, professional life coach, certified grief coach, certified Leader Character practitioner, best-selling author and keynote speaker. I help people navigating grief to identify and articulate their needs, redefine their sense of self, and rebuild confidence to find meaning in their new reality of living after the death of a loved one.

I am passionate about cultivating character, igniting purpose, and fortifying resilience in myself and others. I am a leadership and mental health curriculum design specialist, trainer and advocate. As a former employee of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and trainer with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, I’ve worked with hundreds of public and private sector workers bringing awareness to the signs and symptoms of mental wellbeing  and helping to reduce the stigma associated with mental health challenges. I've taken this professional knowledge and exposure and coupled it with my personal experience of navigating my own grief and choose to support others who find themselves on their own grief journey.

Over the years I have learned that navigating adversity isn’t about dismissing pain or difficulty. It’s about harnessing the power of choice to recreate yourself, living authentically, and finding joy in unexpected places.

This came into sharp focus in the fall of 2022 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 44 and required a double mastectomy. I engaged the tools and skills I’d learned over the years through professional support and my professional coach training to move forward. Simultaneously, I took time to reflect on my experiences surviving murder, navigating mental health and harnessing the power of choice to progress from anguish to coping, to managing, and to ultimately thriving in my life. This awareness and recognition caused a shift in my life’s path with an intense desire to support others as they work to close the gap from where they are today to where they desire to be.

With the right tools and support, you will delve into your inner self, explore options, unearth solutions, and design the life you desire - living beyond loss .
